Ancient Art, Hidden Waterfall

The Austrian Gorge project contiunes after 2 hours seeking out the Kienbachklamm in the Salzkammergut area in Upper Austria, I finally found it.

Way off the beaten track, far from where the tourists go, that is where you'll find the Kienbachklamm. In the forest of the Rußbach a trail above the gorge leads you up to massive rock face. Ancient rock art, spider wheels and ladders their means misunderstood for centuries, their age is constantly debated.

Climbing further along the limestone wall the mouth of a large cave opens up with a sandy floor where firework lie. Just as it was a few thousand years before, the craving maybe weathered, the feeling seems just the same (in the image below).

On the way back I noticed down below through the trees the waterfall, I managed to climb down to the river. The water wasn't too deep but the trousser had to go, (I mean whose to care there wasn't a soul about). I waded through and stood with the tripod on a rock to gain some height. You realise how useful pockets are when holding various bit of camera accessories. A truely peaceful place if not magical too.
