After the gorge the forest appears along with the river through it. As I had  chosen a dizzily and overcast day this led to fog. The fog had fallen low enough from the surrounded mountains onto the tree top setting the scene for this image.

This one of a series of long type images suitable for canvas.

In 2009 I made two visits to the Wörschachklamm,  July and September, as it's not too far from Ramsau where I live.

On the second of these visits, the season had ended along with many of the tourists, leaving the gorge all for myself. I had enough time to make a short film and capture images of course.

 

 

History of Wörschachklamm

  • 1880 - Passage of merchants and traders travelling by horse.
  • 1894 - Construction of a wooden walkways through the gorge
  • 1901 - Opening of the gorge by bridges to the "Kuchl"
  • 1905 - Completion of a walkways through out the entire Gorge
  • 1938 - Appointment as Natural Monument
  • 1941 - Destruction of the gorge by severe thunderstorms
  • 1949  - Gorge is reopened
  • 1967 - Landslide destroyed bridges, were reconstructed during this year.
  • 2000 - Installation of tourist information boards
  • 2001 - Construction of a sculpture at the gorge entrance
  • 2006 - 100-year celebration Wörschachklamm
  • 2008 - Construction of a viewing platform
