I knew the Cottongrass would make a suitable black and white image it was just a matter of finding the right features to make a composition.
Taken on the Giglachalm in the evening of 16th of July 2010. A slight wind blow across the Alm shaking the heads of the cottongrass. Along with a slow exposure to bring detail in the image but also to show the movement in the white cotton heads as they waved and tossed about. The rock structure with moss and the crack, the dried grass and small foilage brings a tonality in the image. But it is the layers that interested me the most from below - hard, to above - softness. Often beauty has an overlined hardness to it.
